Step 2.2: Assess climate change vulnerability

After considering the unique ways that your farm or project may be affected by climate change, you can assess its overall level of vulnerability or risk. A system’s vulnerability is based on the combination of climate change impacts that are expected and the ability of the system to adjust to those changes with minimal disruption.

For each management topic listed below use the slider bar to make your decision.

For example:

If you’re growing a pasture of primarily warm-season grasses and you feel that your property is likely to be buffered from temperature and precipitation extremes, then you might expect the impacts from climate change to be mild. Additionally, if the beef cattle on your property are generally healthy, diverse, and free of health issues, then you might expect this herd to have a high ability to cope with future impacts. Taken together, this would likely lead you to determine that your beef herd has low vulnerability.
