Welcome

The Adaptation Workbook is a step-by-step process designed to help you consider how climate change might affect your goals for agricultural production and land management. Using the Workbook will help you develop your own custom plan to adapt and prepare for changing conditions. You’ll enter information about your management goals and objectives, think critically about potential climate change impacts, and brainstorm management actions that can help prepare for future conditions.

Before you begin, assemble information about your property such as your farm, conservation, or project plan, maps, and agriculture resource inventory data. For more information about climate change adaptation, download Adaptation Resources for Agriculture: Responding to Climate Variability and Change in the Midwest and Northeast. That document makes a great companion guide for the online Workbook.

The Workbook is not intended to provide specific recommendations about how you should adapt to climate change or set criteria for making decisions and implementing selected actions. Rather, you will rely on your own judgment and experience to develop custom implementation and monitoring plans.

The online Workbook is still mostly text-based, so you'll want to find a comfortable workspace and a computer screen that is large enough to read clearly. Please be patient as you click from field to field. The online Workbook will auto-save your information at regular intervals in the background, so you won't need to look for a "Save" button.
